Consecutive means 1 right after the other as in 3,4,5,6,7.... So in this problem the 1st number is x the next number is x + 1 and the last number is (x+1) +1 which is x + 2.
So we have x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 48
3x = 45 x = 15 ..... substituting back in the problem
15 + (15 + 1) + (15 + 2) = 48 = 15 + 16 + 17 = 48 ...
so the 3 consecutive numbers are 15,16,17.
